FL1100EX 4-port USB3.0 Host Controller

Fresco Logic’s 4-port USB3.0 host controller, FL1100EX, equips hardware-based multi-stream, multi-threaded parallel processing engines that deliver full bandwidth to each USB 3.0 port, and have been further optimized for multiple device operation simultaneously. As is the tradition of the GoXtream? family, no firmware and a high level of integration benefits simpler and swifter system integration and adds up to a low TCO. With xHCI 1.0 compliance, FL1100EX guarantees the system has the best compatibility now and in the future and sets the performance standard while delivering even lower power consumption. FL1100EX features 4 USB 3.0 downstream ports in a 116-pin, 9mm x 9mm footprint DRQFN (dual-row) package.

Optimizes Performance when Operating Multiple Protocols

Fresco Logic’s GoXtream? router minimizes latency and protects high-bandwidth real-time data streams while still allowing access to ample best effort bandwidth. To the user this means fast backups even while watching high-definition video or other high-bandwidth real-time applications.

Fully Complies with the UASP Requirements

FL1100EX fully supports the UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) standard, the next generation storage protocol designed for USB 3.0. This feature optimizes the transfer efficiency for the 5Gbps channel by eliminating some of the classic BOT (bulk-only transport) bottlenecks.

Hardware-based LPM Capable

FL1100EX also supports hardware-based LPM (Link Power Management). When a USB 2.0 LPM-capable device is attached, FL1100EX automatically negotiates with the device for entrance to the low power states. This helps the system manage the link power more effectively and, by eliminating software intervention, allows the host CPU to remain in sleep states for longer periods of time. This second factor can result in power savings that are orders of magnitude larger than the link power savings alone.

USB Charging Support

Fresco Logic’s FL1100EX is compliant with Battery Charging (BC) Specification Revision 1.2: Charging Downstream Port (CDP), and China Charging YD/T 1591-2009 Standards. FL1100EX’s proprietary hybrid-charging mode automatically distinguishes BC-compliant devices or China Charging devices and handshakes accordingly. With appropriate power supply design, system designers can easily support USB charging without extra discrete USB charging components.

USB Debug Capability Support

The FL1100EX supports USB Debug Capability defined by the xHCI specification. Debug capability enables low-level system debug using a USB-to-USB connection between two computers, and is a requirement from Microsoft for those platforms that wish to achieve Windows Logo Certification for Windows 8 and beyond.
